  2. Long-term Goal • Adopt 21st century teaching approaches to enhance students’ appreciation of urdu

  3. Short- term Goals • Change ma questioning strategies with students to promote critical thinking • Focus on encouraging students instead of praising • Encourage collaboration among students

  4. Instructional Strategies and Tasks • I will provide more opportunities for students to answer questions that require higher-order thinking. • I will provide students with time for group discussion • I will ask questions that require students to explain how they came to an answer • I will allow students to gather in randomly assigned groups or pairs to discuss how to answer in best way

  5. Solutions to Anticipated Challenges Challenges • the principal may not agree with my new approach. • Parents may not understand ma methods. • There may be some students who don’t want to work together Solutions • I will share the course manual and my notes from the course with my principal. • I will use my new word processing skills to create a newsletter to inform parents of ma new methods. • i will randomly group students to encourage collaboration with all class members.

Newsletter Sample Class XI News By Ms. RubinaSarwar May 31, 2011 What Happens in Class This Week • Students learned about Mir Dard & Mir Taqimir • In poetry, students learned about a range of real-life situations. • Students also wrote and recited their own poems. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN CLASS NEXT WEEK • Students’ science reports on volcanoes are due on Wednesday. Make sure your child finished on time! • Students will begin work on a family tree project. Please help your child gather pictures and stories about your family members. • We will have a classroom spelling bee on Thursday. Remind your child to practice. Remember! The school play will be on Saturday, May 12th, 2011. Bring the family!

  7. Time Line Application of encouraging skills by providing them opportunity of group discussion on problem and individual presentation. Application of questioning skills & observe them that how much they understood the concept and can explain that to another. August October December September November Application of Communication Skills and explain them topic with all aspect to create a sound understanding. Problem Identification, Formulation, and Solution by providing them different problems from different material related to the topic. Testing them by taking a quiz to judge their understanding and any problems area if any one has.

  9. Conclusion By implementing my newly acquired 21st century teaching approaches, students will be empowered and will appreciate and gain a better knowledge of urdu
