Search, Access and Visualization of 3D volume data on the GEONgrid portal Ashraf Memon, Chuck Meertens, Ghulam Memon amemon@sdsc.edu, meertens@unavco.org, gmemon@sdsc.edu High Level Overview Summary • Use of standards like OPeNDAP (Open Source Project for a Network Data Access Protocol) , WMS (Web Mapping Server) , WCS (Web Coverage Server), Web Services • Distributed data stored in netCDF (network Common Data Form) format and/or served on OPeNDAP server. NetCDF can contain point data, and 2D/3D gridded and time-dependent data. • Current focus on scientific data from Earth, Atmospheric and Ocean science sources (e.g seismic tomography and atmospheric temperature, etc.) • Service Oriented Architecture for registration, access • Current Implementation: Registration and Download of netCDF files containing 4D gridded data.
