  2. Exam dates • Additional Science (Y11 work) • Biology 2; 13th May • Chemistry 2; 15th May • Physics 2; 19th May • Additional Science ISA; W/c 2ndDec • Core Science (Y10 work) • Biology 1; 6th June • Chemistry 1; 10th June • Physics 1; 12th June • Core Science ISA; done or doing

  4. Assessment objectives • Each exam paper: • 50% Fact recall • 30% Application of skills and knowledge • 20% Analysis and evaluation • Pupils must practise exam questions

  5. Exam question booklets • Each pupil will be given a booklet for each exam that they are sitting; • Booklets currently being used in class but will be sent home soon; • Should be used to practise exam questions; • Mark schemes are in the back; • Revision websites and exam dates on the front.

Don’t forget you examTECHNIQUE: Time; keep an eye on the clock Every mark; write a point for every mark Calculations; show your working out Highlight; highlight keywords in questions Neat; write clearly and neatly Instructions; follow the instructions Question; read the questions carefully Units; check the units Every question; answer every question- a guess is better than nothing!

  7. C.U.S.T.A.R.D. When answering long answer questions: C– Circle command words U– Underline key words S– Scribble down extra words T– Think/plan it out A– Account for every part of the question R– Read every word once finished D– Do not rush

  8. How you can support your child • work out a revision timetable for each subject • break revision time into small chunks - hour-long sessions with short breaks at the end of each session often work well • make sure your child has all the essential books and materials • condense notes onto postcards to act as revision prompts • new stationery, highlighters and pens to make revision more interesting • go through school notes with your child or listen while they revise a topic • time your child's attempts at practice papers
