Ezekiel 17:22-24 The Messiah will be a descendent of David Luke 3:23-31 The "high cedar" represents the royal line of David (reference 17:11-13, the Lord's explanation of the use of theses symbols in verses 17:3-4). However, this would be the "highest branch" of the high cedar, the Messiah. The word "branch" is a name used in the Old Testament to represent the Messiah (see: Isaiah 4:2, Jeremiah 23:5, 33:14-15, Zechariah 3:8, 6:12-13).
Ezekiel 29:15 Egypt would never again rule over nations In Ezekiel 29:15, the prophet says that Egypt would recover from a desolation (perhaps Babylon's attack about 2600 years ago), but that it would never again rule over other nations. Up until the time of Ezekiel, Egypt had been a world power for centuries, dominating many nations, including Israel. But for most of the past 2500 years, Egypt has been controlled by foreign powers, including the Romans, Ottomans and Europeans. Today, Egypt is again an independent nation, and it has always been an impressive nation. But since the time of Ezekiel, it no longer rules over other nations.
Ezekiel 36:1-5, 8-12 The Land of Israel Would Become Fruitful Again As Jews returned to their land in the late 1800s, they used technology from the industrial age and the kibbutz system of living to remove rocks, drain swamps, develop an irrigation system, till and farm the barren land, apply crop rotation, import fruit trees and plant millions of other trees. Israel is once again a land of milk and honey. Over 300 million trees have been planted in this century. Rainfall has increased 450 percent. The former malaria infested swamps have been converted into cultivated land. Water from the Sea of Galilee has been channeled to the deserts, causing them to bloom. The nation of Israel not only supplies their own fruits and vegetables but also exports to all of Europe and other countries in Asia. (See Isaiah 35:1-7; Joel 2:21-26).
Ezekiel 44:1-2 The Eastern Gate to the Temple Mount Shall Be Shut Suleiman the Magnificent walled up the eastern gate to the current Temple Mount in 1515 A. D., perhaps to forestall the Messiah from entering it, as prophesied in Ezekiel.
So, where is the United States in Bible prophecy? The answer is that we are not mentioned directly and specifically. We are covered by general prophecies that relate to all nations, but beyond that, our end time destiny must be a matter of speculation. Many scholars believe the U.S. is not mentioned in end time prophecy because at that time we will not be a world power and play no significant role in end time events. July 2013 - Although America is still regarded as the world's leading superpower, a Pew Research poll of citizens in 39 countries around the world showed that only in six of the 39 countries did a majority of respondents say China will never replace the United States as the world's leading superpower.
