  4. Get to Know Me My experience My background I grew up on a farm in Burke County Georgia. I learned at an early age to respect nature and all it has to offer. I earned my teaching degree from the University of West Georgia. I also have an associate degree from Floyd College (Georgia Highlands) in Information and Office Technology, and I am currently enrolled in a program for writing children’s storybooks. • I’ve been teaching for 12 years. • I taught 4th grade and 5th grade. • Here’s a funny classroom story… • (I know; you’re still waiting on this.)

  5. My Family • I am married to Mr. Ferguson. • We have two grown and married children, a three-year old granddaughter and a 4 month old grandson. • We have a Bassett Hound named Charlie, a Terrier Mix named LaVerne, an Otterhound/Terrier mix named ChaCha, a cat named Catfish, a goat named June, and a goat named Ward. As you can tell, we love animals and consider our pets part of the family.

  10. Class Subjects • Reading, Writing, and Science

  11. Reading • We will be using stories from the Reading Textbook and supplemental reading passages from various sources the first nine weeks of school. Later, we will be reading novels. • Our novels will include Maniac Magee, Code Talkers, and The Phantom Tollbooth.

  12. Writing • We will be writing everyday. We will be keeping a writing folder for work in progress to add to our journal, a Reading notebook for notes, and a Science notebook for notes and learning tools. • Our writing will reflect what we are doing and learning in reading, writing, and science. • Our final writing product each nine weeks will tie in with our social studies unit. • We will keep a D’Nealian Cursive Handwriting notebook for morning work.

  13. Math • Ms. Brown will provide us with math morning work to warm up our math minds!

  14. Science In science, we will be keeping an interactive notebook to help us stay focused and to provide us with a valuable study resource. We will reflect on learning and add our own questions or thoughts of the day. Students will be given science jobs based on interest and science skill strengths. We will question, research, investigate, observe, record, and question again!
