God People
To be “saved” means: • the receipt of forgiveness for my sins so that upon my death my soul spends eternity with God; and, my salvation is the experience of abundant life on this side of death’s door. • James 1:21, John 10:9-10, 17:3, Colossians 2:13-14
The Holy Spirit is the fruit of the cross. • The cross allows the resurrection. The resurrection causes the glorification of Christ. The cross/resurrection/ascension bring in the Holy Spirit. • John 16:7, 13:31-32, 7:37-39. • The spirit is within us after the cross. Romans 8:14-16; 1 Cor 6:
The cross is power to the HS. • 1 Corinthians 1:17-18 • 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 • Galatians 6:14 • John 12:32-33
Because the Holy Spirit came: • We are indwelt. 1 Cor 6:19 • We are made new (regeneration). Titus 3:5-7; 2 Cor 5:17 • We are spiritually gifted. Eph 4:7-8 • We can be empowered. Col 1:29 • We can be transformed. Rom 12:1-2 • We can become his ambassadors. 2 Cor 5:20
The cross is central and essential to being saved. • The Son of God without the cross cannot save us. • The cross without the Son of God cannot save us. • Matthew 20:26-28
The cross is the instrument by which God satisfies the law. • Galatians 3:10 • Galatians 3:13 • Romans 8:1-4 • Colossians 2:13-14 • The curse of the law: the traffic citation you receive in the mail. • The ransom payment – your check.
