Learning Outside the Classroom Personal development: organisation, responsibility & confidence. Communication – no phones, learn a little Italian! New skills – or experiencing different environments to practise & develop skills. Team work – all about this! Cross-curricular enrichment – those of you studying GCSE PE could possibly use skiing as a sport – liaise with Miss Rainbow or Mr Armer.
Travel Arrangements Departing Garstang Students arriving at GCA: 01:45 – 6th April (Early hours on Saturday!) Coach departing at GCA: 02:00 Check in time at Heathrow Terminal 5: 08:15 Departure time from Heathrow: 10:15 (Flight no: BA574) Arrival at Milan Linate Airport: 13:15 Arrival at Hotel Kapriol: 18:00
Travel Arrangements • Return Journey – 13th April • Departure from Hotel Kapriol: 07:45 • Check in at Milan Linate: 12:00 (Flight no: BA575) • Departure from Milan Linate: 14:00 • Arrival at Heathrow Terminal: 15:00 • Arrival at GCA: 21:00 approx.
No phones/technology • For travelling, students will be allowed their phones/iPads/tablets to watch films or play games etc. • If they choose to bring these items, whilst travelling, they have FULL responsibility for them. • Once the coach starts to climb to the mountain area in Italy, we’ll come along the bus and collect the technology and have it locked in a safe over the course of the week. • Students will get items back the evening before to charge for the return journey. Portable chargers may be useful if they have access to one.

Skis, boots, helmet and poles for the week • Ski fit first thing on Sunday morning (first day of skiing) or after arriving at the accomodation • Lift pass • All equipment stored at the top of the mountain Equipment Hire
4 hours daily tuition; our staff ski with the groups too. • Back to the hotel for lunch – well earned rest & take on lots of water! • Maximum 12 per group (similar ability) • Locally qualified instructors who have responsibility for the groups whilst on the mountain. • Group movements are an option for improvers, if there are spaces. PGL Ski certificate for every pupil • ‘Skier’ of the week t-shirt • Every evening – student nominations for ‘Star’ and ‘Wally’ of the day – a nice way to reflect on the day’s skiing. Awards

Passport & EHIC card • Ski Jacket/Sallopettes • Goggles/Glasses • Sun cream • Ski socks/Hat/Ski Gloves • Clothes for the evening • Carrier bag for dirty washing! • Pocket money – approx. 80 euros. English money for a service stop on both journeys to and from Heathrow. Euros in an envelope with the amount clearly marked. Pack the majority in suitcase. Leave a little spare for a service stop in Italy. • Please take only one, medium-sized, suitcase: 20kg. Checklist - essentials

Behaviour • Outstanding behaviour at all times • Hotel Kapriol invite us back year on year because our students are the best • No boys allowed on the girls floor or in rooms and vice-versa • Sleep is important! • If your room has a balcony – you are not allowed onto it! • Ski instructor is responsible for you on the slopes – you follow ALL instructions. Non-compliance will result in losing ski time. • No skiing alone – however experienced you are – not insured. • Excellent behaviour = Safe behaviour
