What the heck is a Lexile? 1700L Lexiles measure the developmental ability of a reader and the difficulty of a text on the same scale so that it is easy to match readers with materials that won’t frustrate them. What does that mean to us? While we do not appear to have any source of getting Lexile Reader Measures, Lexiles can still be helpful to us. If you know the approximate reading level of a student, you can use this chart to determine what Text Measure you should target for that student. Remember, don’t limit a reader to a book within a Lexile range. Students can vary in their ability to comprehend material depending on their foundation knowledge and interest levels. Not all books in our system have Lexiles For more information on Lexiles go to: lexile.com Chart is from EBSCO: http://support.epnet.com/training/novelist/NLC/InfoPages/Lexiles.htm
