3. Extension Mission The University of Tennessee Extension is an off-campus division of the UT Institute of Agriculture. It is a statewide educational organization, funded by federal, state and local governments, that brings research-based information about agriculture, family and consumer sciences, and resource development to the people of Tennessee where they live and work.

4. Mission Statement The mission of Tennessee 4-H is to provide research-based Extension educational experiences that will stimulate young people to gain knowledge, develop life skills, and form positive attitudes to prepare them to become capable, responsible and compassionate adults.

26. Eastern Region Volunteer Leader Council

27. Eastern Region Volunteer Leader Council Proposal

28. Purpose To strengthen the community partnership to deliver quality educational programming at the county and regional level.

29. This group will consist of: • 66 appointed members. • At-large appointments from the Region staff. • Regional members of the State Volunteer Leader Committee.

30. Each County will appoint one adult volunteer leader and one Senior 4-H member to serve on the Eastern Region Volunteer Leader Council (ERVLC).

31. Each Leader appointed should agree to: • Participate and attend each ERVLC Meeting (2 times per year). • Attend and take a leadership role in the Biennial Volunteer Leader Summit. • Serve in at least one volunteer leader role at the Region Level. • Start a Volunteer Leader Council in their home county to mirror the region organization.

32. The ERVLC will meet: • Two times per year as a full group. • Probably only meet one time during the year we have a Regional Forum or Summit. • The Executive Committee will probably meet more times.

33. This group will elect or appoint through a nominating committee: • An Executive Committee to give oversight to the council. • The Executive Committee’s make up will be determined by the nominating committee and approved by the council.
