HELP I’M MISERABLE HOW DOES GOD CHANGE ME?
Phil. 2:12-13 “... Continue to Work Out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who Works In you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”
I. God's Part In Changing Me • He Uses The Bible. • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” • Rom. 10:17 “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”
2. The Holy Spirit • Ephesians 1:13 “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit…”
3. He Uses Circumstances • Romans 8:28-29 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.”
II. My Part In Changing Me • I Can Choose What I Think About. • Proverb 4:23 “Be careful how you think. Your life is shaped by your thoughts.” (GN) • Eph. 4:22-24 “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
Rom. 12:2 “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
2. Depend On God's Spirit Moment by Moment • Romans 8:13-14 “For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”
3. My Response to Circumstances • James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
