What is a procedure? • What the teacher wants done in the classroom • Explains how to do something; how to get something done • Increases on-task time and reduces classroom disruptions • Demonstrate how students are to function in an ACCEPTABLE AND ORGANIZED MANNER. • All procedures need to be explained, rehearsed, and reinforced • What the difference between a procedure and rule? • Procedures concern how things are DONE • Discipline concerns how students BEHAVE • What is the procedure for opening a locker? • Does a student get a JUG if he can’t open his locker? • Does a student get a JUG if he breaks into a locker or opens the locker of another student? • The goal of procedures is ROUTINE!
