Xenia—Hospitality in Ancient Greece Xenia consists of three basic rules: • the respect from host to guest • be hospitable • provide guest with food, shelter, and drink • avoid asking any questions until the guest has sated his hunger and thirst • the respect from guest to host • be courteous and thankful • avoid being a burden • share his or her story with the host • the parting gift from host to guest • demonstrates the host's honor at receiving the guest
