The Bone Tool is Based on Inverse Kinematics What is kinematics?
Kinematics Kinematics is the process of calculating the position in space of the end of a linked structure, given the angles of all the joints. It is easy, and there is only one solution.
Inverse Kinematics Inverse Kinematics does the reverse. Given the end point of the structure, what angles do the joints need to be in to achieve that end point? It can be difficult, and there are usually many or infinitely many solutions.
New Terms • Root bone (the first bone) • Head/registration point • Tail • Armature A series of bones is an armature
New Terms, cont. • Pose/armature layer New layer created after the first bone is drawnPose layer is green • Pose frame (see diamond at right) A pose frame is like a motion tween layer
More New Terms Transformation point: the point around which the symbol rotates.
Two Ways to Use Bone Tool Link Symbols Link Shapes
Common Operations in thePose Layer • Speed up or slow down animation • Select frames • Remove frames • Insert a pose • Clear a pose • Copy a pose • Cut a pose • Paste a pose
Worksheet Perform each of the functions on the worksheet.
