  1. Importing / Exporting In FCP X

  2. First… RECORD YOUR VIDEO

  3. Record Verify Record your footage, and verify if needed. To verify, use the selection switch, switching from: CAMERA > OFF > MEDIA.

  4. Return to your MAC workstation… Make sure the Camera is OFF. Then, secure a Type A / Mini B (5 Pin) USB cable.

  5. With the camera off…. Plug the cable (Mini B side) into the camera (Hidden compartment under the Hand Grip).

  6. Take the Type A side of the USB cable, and plug it into the back of your computer.

  7. Once the Camera is plugged in…. …switch the camera from OFF to… MEDIA. You should see the above message.

  8. On your computer you should see… Take note of the two compact flash cards >>> that are presently in the camera. The USB cable allows the computer to “read” the memory cards. >>>

  9. Open up FINAL CUT PRO… <<<<< CLICK on the IMPORT button.

  10. <<<<<<< Again, take note of the 2 different COMPACT FLASH cards (already in the camera). You may have to switch between the 2 cards to find your footage. >>>>>>>> Use the “Content Created” category to sort content by time and date.

  11. Next, >>>>>>> Select the clip (or clips (click-and-drag to select multiple clips)) you want to import. You should see a BLUE highlight. >>>>>>> After highlighting, Click on “Import Selected.”

  12. Click on the “Import” button. >>>>>>>

  13. Wait for the clip(s) to finish importing… <<<<<<< You will see small white circles in the lower left of the clips while they are importing. MAKE SURE NO CLIPS HAVE THIS PIE-SHAPE / CIRCLE when you prepare to disconnect the camera.

  14. When you are done Importing into FCP…. Minimize Final Cut Pro. Click ONE time on one of the Compact Flash cards. >>>>>>>> Then click on the “File” menu at the top left of your desktop.

  15. Next, click on the <<<<<<< “Eject ‘CANON XF’” Repeat the steps from this (and the last) slide to eject the other card AS WELL.

  16. Once the Compact Flash cards have been ejected….. 1. Switch/Turn the Camera to OFF. 2. Unplug the USB cable from the Camera/Computer. 3. Secure both, the camera and the cable.
