2. What is Graphic Design? • Graphic design is a form of communication using text and/or images to present information. The art of graphic design embraces a range of mental skills (e.g. imagination, creativity, visualization) and crafts including lettering (e.g. typography, calligraphy), image development(e.g. photography, illustration) and page layout. 3. Project Outline • You will prepare an interactive educational exhibit presentation for the Museum of Modern Art located in New York City • Exhibition: Curator’s choice from permanent collection that focuses on Modern Art (1900-2006) • As a graphic design team you will work both independently and as team member. Team = 2 people • TEAM GOAL: to create a professional quality interactive Educational Power Point that could be published on the museum website • Needed: USB drive to exchange information between computers

MoMA • OVERVIEW -- Founded in 1929 as an educational institution, The Museum of Modern Art is dedicated to being the foremost museum of modern art in the world. - Central to The Museum of Modern Art's mission is the encouragement of an ever deeper understanding and enjoyment of modern and contemporary art by the diverse local, national, and international audiences that it serves.

5. COLLECTIONS -- From an initial gift of eight prints and one drawing, The Museum of Modern Art's collection has grown to include more than 100,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, architectural models and drawings, and design objects. MoMA also owns some 19,000 films and four million film stills, as well as 140,000 books, artist books, and periodicals, all part of the Museum's library.

6. Things that need to be in your presentation: • 5 different 20th century art movements from the list • Name of the exhibit – tie the movements together under some sort of theme • Timeline documenting each movement and how it falls within the 20th century – chronological with nav. buttons • Major artists, characteristics, philosophy and background of each movements (based on your research) • Interactive buttons so that someone could independently work through your PP at their own pace • Sound, music and narration where appropriate Once complete-Your team will present to class
