Background • Few people with LD have choice and control over where and who they live with • 10,000+ people with LD • 1000+ people receiving services • 300+ people living in res care • People with LD have told us they prefer supported living to residential care • High level of people are living with elderly carers or relatives

  3. Current Position • We need to change balance • Housing with care suitable for people with LD is still limited • Some areas have no Supported Living • Partnerships with District and Borough Housing teams continuing to grow • Working with Housing Associations and Private Landlords • Delivery of Care and Choice Programme

  4. How services will be delivered • Single Tenders • Housing Partnership Framework - if appropriate to lifestyle • Reshaping Residential Care Services, i.e. De-Registration! • Remodelling Sheltered Housing • Current Housing stock • Working with Independent Sector

  5. So what do we want • Enable customers to live independently • Understanding of life history • Assistance with rehabilitation • Range of preventative services • Flexible and responsive services • Develop, Improve and Maintain Quality of Life • Involvement/Interface with Wider Community • Housing Related Support

  7. Kingston House and others • Available since September 2011 • Part of Bede Village in Bedworth • 10 new one-bedroom flats • Care and support available 24/7 • Use of other on site facilities and to come • Stratford Road, Shipston (10 x flats) • Nuneaton (16 x flats)

  8. Extra Care Housing Schemes for 55+ now open at: • Briar Croft, Stratford-upon-Avon • Farmers Court, Rugby • Rohan Gardens, Warwick Building soon under way at: • Leamington • Bedworth • Mancetter • Hillmorton, Rugby

  10. Following 2011 tender Two specific sites: • Wharf Street, Warwick (15 x flats) • Rear of Bidford Fire Station (9 x flats) • Member consultations progressed • Public consultation progressed • Planning consent and/or applications in place • More sites to follow • What does it look like?
