Background • Few people with LD have choice and control over where and who they live with • 10,000+ people with LD • 1000+ people receiving services • 300+ people living in residential care • People with LD have told us they prefer supported living to residential care • High level of people are living with elderly carers or relatives
Current Position • We have started to change balance • Housing with care now under construction • Plans under way for all Boroughs/Districts • Partnerships with District and Borough Housing teams continuing to grow • Working with Housing Associations • Delivery of Housing with Care Programme
How services are being delivered • Single Tenders • Housing Partnership Framework - if appropriate to age and lifestyle • Remodelling Sheltered Housing • Current Housing stock • Working with Independent Sector
So what do we want • Enable customers to live independently • Education, Employment and Training • Understanding of life history • Assistance with rehabilitation • Range of preventative services • Flexible and responsive services • Develop, Improve and Maintain Quality of Life • Involvement with Wider Community • Housing Related Support
Kingston House and others • Available since September 2011 • Part of Bede Village in Bedworth • 10 new one-bedroom flats • Care and support available 24/7 • Use of other on site facilities
Extra Care Housing Schemes for 55+ now open at: • Briar Croft, Stratford-upon-Avon • Farmers Court, Rugby • Rohan Gardens, Warwick Building under way at: • Leamington • Bedworth • Southam • Hillmorton, Rugby
