Clery Act • Raped and murdered April 5, 1986 in her residence hall. • Campus did not report this or many other violent crimes to college community. • History of violent crime on campus led to national awareness of campus crime • Federal Clery Act enacted • In 1987, requires annual reporting of specified crimes.
