Persona: Student from Low Income Background • Tasks • Learn about various education and career choices • Seeks recommendations and guidance customized to his background and goals • Acquire soft-skills training • Background • 17 y/o 12th grade student at a Tamil-medium Chennai Corporation School • First-generation high-schooler • Father works as a bus driver, Mother as a house-maid • Goals • Pursue college education / professional course • Interested in Engineering but unsure about which • major to pursue Scenario • Hari is a bright 12th grader at a government school in Chennai fascinated with the idea of becoming an engineer. Hari’s family has been saving for years to afford his college education and it is very important that he makes the right choice as most Indian colleges do not allow changes in college majors after admission. He is pondering over Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Computers, but coming from a blue-collar background, he has no access to engineering professionals who can share insights. He wishes there was a mentor he could go to for insights and inspiration. • Hari would also like to learn about various colleges, their job placement rates and scholarship opportunities. Internet research has been difficult and overwhelming. He wishes that he could look-up all information related to colleges in his state / country in one place so he can research his choices easily. • To ensure his success at an English-medium college Hari wants to improve his soft skills.
