The Current Compact Principles The principles and shared vision described in the current Compact are as follows: The need for a strong and sustainable voluntary and community sector that brings innovation, resources and commitment to improving lives and the Borough Having mutual respect for each other and respecting independence Recognising diversity and equality and ensuring fairness, accessibility and inclusion underpins all services and partnership working. Recognising the value of partnership working between the statutory partners and the sector but also between organisations within the voluntary sector Recognition of the different legal, financial and political frameworks within which organisations operate Minimise the impact of their activities on the environment for both the statutory and voluntary sector Recognition of the important contribution of volunteers to making a positive difference to our communities

The Draft Compact Outcomes Drawing on the national Compact and advice from Compact Voice we have identified the following possible outcomes, of which we would like to see your initial views: A strong, diverse and independent voluntary and community sector Effective and transparent design and development of policies, programmes and public services which takes account of a wide range of views and experiences, including users of statutory and voluntary sector services.   Responsive and high-quality programmes and services that are enabled through appropriate and proportionate procurement methods, and which achieve best value for residents. Clear arrangements for managing changes to programmes and services by both sectors. An equal and fair society Recognising the value of partnership working and the synergies it brings to how we work together.
