  3. Your Responsibilities You will be expected to take care of your clothes and shoes. Everything must be labelled. At some boarding schools you will wash, iron and fold your own clothes. You will buy personal items like towels and toiletries. Everything should be labelled. You will be expected to replace them when they run out. You will learn new routines. You will be responsible for getting up and getting ready for school on time. It is your responsibility to look after your body and your personal hygiene. You Your valuables and your money are your responsibility. You will learn the rules at your school for using electronic devices like mobiles and ipods. will also have to make sure you eat well, do your best at school, study at set times, have a bath and go to sleep when you are expected to.   5. Doing Secondary School! You will learn how to read and follow a timetable. You may have to learn how to safely use equipment for new subjects. You may move around to different classrooms for lessons and you may have to use a map at first to find your way around the school. You may be expected to use a homework diary to write down your homework each day. You will be expected to do all homework tasks. You will be doing different subjects and you may have different teachers. You will need to learn to work with each teacher and understand the rules for their subject. You will be given assignments to work on in your own time. You will hand these assignments in by set dates and you will be graded on your work. Transition Support Services (DETA) 2009

  6. What you will need – the basics 1 pair of rubber thongs 2 bath Towels 2 sets of single bed sheets 3-4 sets of casual clothes 1 pillow and 1 pillow case Hankies 1 doona and 1 doona cover 8-10 sets of underwear 1 pair of sports shoes 2 sets of pyjamas. If you board in a place where it gets cold you will need a set of winter pyjamas too. 5 pairs of white ankle socks Transition Support Services (DETA) 2009

What you will need - Toiletries Toothbrush and toothpaste Soap and soap box or Body wash Hairbrush or a comb Deodorant – roll on no sprays allowed Hair ties for long hair Soap and soap box or Body wash Shampoo and conditioner for your hair Safety razors for hair removal Transition Support Services (DETA) 2009

  8. Finally……. One of the most important things that you will need to help you to settle in at boarding school is a Positive Attitude 
