Data collectionfrom 03 countries: Phillipines, Thailand and Vietnam, other conutry have no or did not send datas - Phillipines: Water Classification by Beneficial Use (in five class) - Thailand: Water Classification by condition and Beneficial Usage (in five class) - Vietnam: 01 National standard and 03 related National technical regulation on surface water quality, water for agriculture and aquaculture.
- Vietnam: TCVN 5942-1995 Standard(31 parameters) Water quality for Surface water quality standard (02 class) Standard A can providing for domestical pupose after some treatment Standard B can providing for other puposes.
- Vietnam: National technical regulation on surface water quality: 32 parameters • Class A and B (raw water for domestical pupose other puposes) • sub-class A1, A2, B1, B2 (lower than A and B standard)
- Vietnam: National technical regulation on water for agriculture: mainly for irrigation with 15 parameters
- Vietnam: National technical regulation on water for aquaculture mainly for protection of aquatic life with 19 parameters
Overall Water quality in Vietnam • In general, Surface water in the upstream reaches of almost rivers is still relatively good, In the downstream reaches of major rivers the water quality gradually deteriorates. Water in lakes and canals in the large cities and densely populated areas are severely contaminated thus affecting the water supply for domestic use. Water pollution -Water source pollution: The impacts of polluted water sources on society are becoming obvious and more serious, especially in the urbanization and industrialization process of the country.
