  2. This year NWMS will be using a school-wide behavioral system based not only on consequences but also on rewards. Student infractions are based on the following rules: • Students will be on time to each class and will follow directions. • Students will bring all necessary materials to each class. • Students will use school property and internet access appropriately. • Students will be courteous and respectful to others, keeping their hands, feet, and other objects to themselves. • Students will move quietly in the halls, restroom, and cafeteria. • Students will not chew gum. • Students will interact with adults in a respectful manner without being insubordinate. • Students will interact with others without using inappropriate gestures or language. • Students will interact with other students respectfully without harassing or intimidating them.

  3. PP8 – The following are some examples of severe infractions that will result in the completion of a PP8 form. This form is an automatic office referral. • Fighting • Possession / use of drugs / tobacco • Possession of weapons • Profanity directed to/ at an adult • Skipping class • Making a serious threat • Theft / vandalism of school property • Repeated misuse of internet • Excessive infractions

  4. Rewards • A weekly reward of a 30 minute break (social time) can be earned Friday afternoon by those students who have accumulated no more than 3 infractions. • Permission to purchase a dance ticket can be earned by those students who have not received a PP8 (see above) from dance date to the next dance date. • Each grade level will plan a quarterly reward for students who do not receive a PP8 or accumulate no more than 20 infractions.

  5. Consequences • First infraction – Verbal warning by teacher • Second infraction – Conference with student • Third infraction - Team conference with student • Fourth infraction – Student does not get Friday Break and a letter to parents or phone conference • Fifth infraction – Student referred to assistant principal • Severe infraction – Immediate referral to the assistant principal
