Center for International Understanding • “North Carolina in the World”-statewide collaborative effort to prepare students to thrive in the global community of the 21st Century. • Global Partner School (GPS)-a school that works with “NC in the World” to create a partnership with a school aboard. • Collaborate learning projects through technology • Regular opportunities for international dialogue • Short-term visits to each other’s schools • Exchange of teachers and/or students.
Preparations • North Carolina in the World Orientation- (August7th-8th at Chapel Hill) • Background Information provided on Denmark by a retired Danish Principal-Birger Axen • Information about the Danish education and culture that impacts our partnership-Principal-Birger Axen • Information given on the steps and tools needed to develop effective partnerships • Student collaborations, curriculum ideas and technology tools, collaborative learning projects through technology • Collaboration between pre-planning teams
