Requirement for a Health & Wellbeing Board • Health & Social Care Act (2012) & Statutory Instrument – 2013 number: 218 • Each upper tier/unitary local authority • A committee of the local authority • Specified core membership • Responsibilities • Integrated working • Joint health & wellbeing strategy informed by JSNA
Board Members • at least one councillor of the local authority, • director of adult social services • director of children’s services • director of public health • representative of the Local Healthwatch • a representative of each relevant clinical commissioning group, and such other persons, or representatives of such other persons, as the local authority thinks appropriate.

DEVELOPMENT PROCESS • JSNA provided the four strategic areas • Workshop June 2012 • 3 month consultation • >1200 responses • Another workshop • Board agreed priority areas -
MAKING A DIFFERENCE The Strategy will focus on supporting: • Fewer people die from preventable ill health • Reducing health inequalities across Hampshire • Improving community based services so that fewer people need costly hospital and long term care
What next? • Council Elections May 2 • Update HCC constitution to reflect new duties • Deliver JHWS, update and informed by updated JSNA • Quick wins but also - start to tackle the big issues
