  1. American Revolution By:Chad T. Johndrow

  2. The British came to Boston to tax colonist.

  3. First continental congress discus British troops in Boston, and they said if the British don’t leave they’ll meet again I a year.

  4. A colonist who is in a mob of protesters punches a British troop that stands by more troops. Then the British are so nervous they fire in the mob of protesters.(Boston massacre)

  5. "Such was the policy of Great Britain at the dictation of the mercantile class; and in the maintenance of that policy, in sixty years between 1714 and 1774, [Great Britain] paid out of her Exchequer the enormous sum of £34,697,142 sterling, a sum greater than the estimated value of the whole real and personal property in the colonies"*. Taxes collected under the provisions of the Stamp Act were to be applied exclusively to treasuries in America, and used only for the administration of the colonies. However, the colonials were already chaffing at the nature of that administration. Sugar Stacks used regular sugar cubes (4 grams of sugar each) to show how the sugars in your favorite foods literally stack up, gram for gram. Compare foods, find out where sugar is hiding, and see how much of the sweet stuff you’re really eating. http://www.ushistory.org/Declaration/related/sugaract.htm

  6. A Tax Stamp A Tax Stamp. The stated objective of the Stamp Act was to reduce the burden of administering the colonies by taxing trade and certain commodities to develop a self-supporting colonial regime. The royalist argument was that the policies of crown and parliament in America had favored business interests to such an extent that all trade in the colonies had been heavily subsidized by the British treasury. 7. While certain commodities traded between Britain, the East Indies, and the Colonies had always been taxed the Stamp Act had the (probably unintentional) effect of inciting widespread mobilization against British authority. The act provided that a revenue stamp be applied to a long list of items, including newspapers, books, pamphlets, legal documents, licenses, diplomas, and playing cards. Each such item would be marked on its face with the symbol of British authority, (see sample at left) such that every colonist was reminded almost moment to moment of the control that parliament would assert over the colonies.

  8. The Townshend Revenue Act Taxes on glass, paint, oil, lead, paper, and tea were applied with the design of raising £40,000 a year for the administration of the colonies. The result was the resurrection of colonial hostilities created by the Stamp Act.Reaction assumed revolutionary proportions in Boston, in the summer of 1768, when customs officials impounded a sloop owned by John Hancock, for violations of the trade regulations. Crowds mobbed the customs office, forcing the officials to retire to a British Warship in the Harbor. Troops from England and Nova Scotia marched in to occupy Boston on October 1, 1768. Bostonians offered no resistance. Rather they changed their tactics. They established non-importation agreements that quickly spread throughout the colonies. British trade soon dried up and the powerful merchants of Britain once again interceded on behalf of the colonies. OH.SNAP! http://www.ushistory.org/Declaration/related/townshend.htm

  9. When the British hired taxes on tea the colonist don’t agree so when the British imported a boat full of tea in the harbor some colonist got on the boat and poured out all the tea from on the bout .

  10. The Intolerable Acts The Intolerable Acts The Intolerable Acts Boston Port Act Administration of Justice Act Massachusetts Government Act Quartering Act Quebec Act The government spent immense sums of money on troops and equipment in an attempt to subjugate Massachusetts. British merchants had lost huge sums of money on looted, spoiled, and destroyed goods shipped to the colonies. The revenue generated by the Townshend duties, in 1770, amounted to less than £21,000. On March 5, 1770, Parliament repealed the duties, except for the one on tea. That same day, the Boston massacre set a course that would lead the Royal Governor to evacuate the occupying army from Boston, and would soon bring the revolution to armed rebellion throughout the colonies. See also the Tea Act. OMG!!!!!!!

  11. Sugar Act • Definition: 1764 Act that put a three-cent tax on foreign refined sugar and increased taxes on coffee, indigo, and certain kinds of wine. It banned importation of rum and French wines. These taxes affected only a certain part of the population, but the affected merchants were very vocal. Besides, the taxes were enacted (or raised) without the consent of the colonists. This was one of the first instances in which colonists wanted a say in how much they were taxed.

On October 19, 1781, the decisive military campaign of the American Revolution culminated with the British surrender to combined American and French forces under the command of George Washington. The Siege of Yorktown effectively ended the six-year struggle of the Revolutionary War and set the stage for a new government and nation. htt_P76ACFQuB5QodTnBLNwp://www.historyisfun.org/Yorktown-Victory-Center.htm?gclid=CO2o0- • http://www.historyisfun.org/Yorktown-Victory-Center.htm?gclid=CO2o0-_P76ACFQuB5QodTnBLNw
