KG1 Learning Objectives By the end of the year, students should be able to: 1 - Language Arts • Recognize letter sounds of vowels, consonants and combination of sounds (ex: diagraphs) • Recognize and trace lower case letters. • Identify beginning , middle and ending sounds • Recognize some high frequency words. • Recognize and decode some three letter (CVC) words. • Express ideas through drawings. • Identify rhyming words. • Respond to stories by acting, retelling, or identifying characters. • Express ideas and needs in complete sentences. • Develop and use new vocabulary and actively participate in conversations. • Recognize and trace own name. • Display book handling knowledge. • 2-Math • Sort, classify, display, and compare a variety of concrete objects according to their size, shape and color. • Demonstrate an understanding of numbers using concrete materials to explore and investigate counting, quantity, and number relationships. • Match numbers to sets. • Identify order and trace numbers from 1 to 20. • Count orally from 1 to 30. • Get introduced to counting from 1 to 100. • Identify directions. • Identify 2D and 3D shapes. • Copy and create simple patterns. • Compare groups of objects. • Explore the meaning of addition and subtraction using concrete objects. • Collect and describe data in a graph.
