Game-Based Online Safety! Activities developed by the eLIM EdTech team and SASP to teach Online Safety through game-based active fitness bursts Remember to include ‘Game breaks’
Year 5: I always communicate kindly and respectfully and can describe the impact where this does not happen Year 6: I always communicate kindly and respectfully and work with others to help everyone enjoy their use of technology
INSTRUCTIONS • Select a few appropriate ‘Game breaks’ to include other online safety messages during the game. Practise actions for each of them with the class. • Split class into teams, representing a fruit or vegetable per team. Each team holds coloured objects to represent their team e.g. coits or beanbags. • Create 3 x 3 grids using hoops, or chalk on a playground. Two teams per grid. Take it in turns to place an object in the grid, trying to place 3 in a row of their object (like noughts and crosses). If the game is a ‘stalemate’, the next person in the team may move a piece that has already been placed. • Remind pupils to communicate kindly and responsibly with their teammates and opponents • Include ‘Game breaks’. When a game break is called everyone stops to do an appropriate action
