Action Research OAKS Math Testing: Fall vs. Spring
The BIG Question(AKA Problem Statement) Will 5th grade students score higher on their first round of OAKS math testing in the fall rather than in the spring?
Reasons for the Research • The pursuit of higher test scores • Strategic testing • More time to revisit weak areas • 5th grade changes
Methods • Pre-assessment (current student knowledge) • Compacting curriculum (main areas of testing) • OAKS math testing • Comparison to past test data • Reflection
Research Design:How it’s Going to go Down O T O • Extant Data • Curriculum Intervention • OAKS/Survey • Reflection • Bragging…maybe
Results • If students score higher than in past years, this testing change will continue to be practiced. • If students don’t score higher than in past years, modifications will be made for next year.
