1 Christians are transformed into the image of Christ by following His example.
Philippians 2:5-6 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
Philippians 2:7-8a but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself . . .
Philippians 2:8b-9 and became obedient to death — even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.
Proverbs 4:18 The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.
Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
Luke 9:24 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.
Christ empties Himself God exalts Him Death on the Cross
2 The opposite path is trying to avoid the cross. Satan is the model for this path.
Isaiah 14:13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.
Isaiah 14:14-15 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High."But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit.
Be Like God I Will Ascend Brought to the pit
3 The Path of the Righteous is a process of walking in truth, repentance, and faith.
Acts 20:20-21 (NASB) I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable . . . teaching you . . . of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faith Truth Repentance
4 Because beliefs precede actions, the first step toward change is a process from moving from lies to truth.
There are only two kinds of beliefs — truth or lies. Jesus is the source of truth, and demons are the source of lies.
John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 8:44a You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.
John 8:44b When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
5 The first step in the Transformational Process is to help people identify the lies in their lives and replace them with truth.
6 We provide a context for people to see the lies and hear the truth through careful listening.
7 Listening helps people be honest about their faulty beliefs. It builds trust, encourages transparency, and uncovers lies.
