  1. English 10 - 10/17/11 • Write a “statement of purpose” for your position in the debate. Do you agree with it? Why or why not? • Why do fire departments have Dalmations? • Gramatolatry – The worship of words. Goals – Use the forms to organize for the debate. Help each other make a solid case. Homework – Prepare, in writing, your role for the debate practice tomorrow. Time yourself.

  2. English 10 - 10/18/11 • Write a “statement of purpose” for your opponent’s position in the debate. Do you agree with it? Why or why not? • How did the mouse feel after the cat chased it through the screen door? • Epizeuxis – the repetition of a word, for emphasis. Goals – Practice and time each other in your roles. Make revisions. Homework – Practice your revised role in the debate for tomorrow. Time yourself.

What do you need to know? • Why do bicycles fall over? • Embolalia – hesitation forms of speech, e.g. ”um,” “you know,” “like,” “okay.” Goals – Create a correct works cited page. Include notes on cards. Homework – Be ready for your role in the debate for tomorrow, if necessary.

Do people often doubt you? • What is Irish and sits outside? • Dithyram – a wild, emotional outpouring, in poetry, speech, hymn, song, or writing. Goals – Hold a debate and evaluate for effectiveness. Homework – Make reference to your sources on your cards for each of your warrants.Don’t forget to study Vocabulary # 8 for quiz tomorrow.
