Presenting a model for networking… Purpose: To describe the outcomes of an INGO’s initiative to develop networks of small to medium sized eye hospitals. • In Tamilnadu & Karnataka, India a network of 6 eye hospitals in different areas was formed. • A coastal network was formed of 7 eye hospital in East & West Godavari and Krishna districts of Andhrapradesh, India.

Presenting a model for networking… Methods • Assessment of the partner’s capacity • Provision of technical and managerial support(Human Resource, Organisational Development and others) • Strengthening of hospital management systems and standardization for quality eye care services. • Establishing linkages with Primary, secondary & Tertiary eye care service • Periodical monitoring, evaluating and support provided to the projects.
Presenting a model for networking… Results: • The availability of trained human resource for eye care increased. • Improved Quality Management Systems were operational in all hospitals. • Better utilization of available resources. • Improved cost effectiveness through bulk purchases of consumables and other eye care needs. • Improved service delivery outputs.
Presenting a model for networking… Conclusion: • Networking helps in utilizing the strengths of all members of the network. • Helps hospitals improve quality through group learning. • Improves the productivity of hospitals. • Improves sustainability of the hospital • Supports the achievements of Vision 2020
