  4. Canine Parvovirus (CPV) • Most effective in already weakened animals and young animals • Highly contagious • Can be vaccinated for Diagram by Cornell University

  5. CPV continued… • First identified in 1978 • Causes reduced body condition through diarrhea and vomiting

  6. Sarcopitc Mange • Used in 1905-1916 in Montana when required by law • Causes mortality in canines • Much like CPV it reduces body condition • Very effective in winter Photo by: Jimmy Jones

  7. Challenges to Implementation Wolves are a very “Charged” topic Ecological effects aren’t fully avoidable Testing would be required

  8. COST EFFECTIVE!! • Doesn’t require a lot of time or money to implement • Financial gain from weight increase in individual cattle • Increased survival of livestock • Reduced time commitment to dealing with predation control
