Possible Contribution to 11th Meeting of WP5D~ Related to Updating of Questions ITU-R 229-2/5 and ITU-R 77-6/5 ~ CJK-IMT28-012 TANNO, Motohiro (tanno@nttdocomo.co.jp)
Introduction • This contribution provides preliminary draft texts for updating Questions ITU-R 229-2/5 and ITU-R 77-6/5 both assigned to WP 5D. • Such updating was originally requested in Document 5D/712 (Chairman, SG5), and contributions have been invited at the past meetings of WP 5D, specifically by the Chairman of WG General Aspects.
Consideration on Question ITU-R 229-2/5 Question ITU-R 229-2/5 “Future development of the terrestrial component of IMT” • One understanding may be that most of the assigned questions in Part A of “decides” have been completed by adoption of Recommendation ITU-R M.[IMT.RSPEC], and future work could focus on the questions in Part B. • Part A – Future development and ongoing enhancement of the terrestrial component of IMT • Part B – Long-term development of IMT • However, we would suggest to retain most of the questions in Part A, noting that “Future development and ongoing enhancement” is still needed for current IMT systems (for both IMT-2000 and IMT-Advanced). • Therefore, the proposed updating does not contain major deletions or additions of the questions in “decides” part, but proposes refinement of the text.
Consideration on Question ITU-R 77-6/5 Question ITU-R 77-6/5 “Consideration of the needs of developing countries in the development and implementation of mobile radiocommunication technology” • There have been limited outputs in the past although the Question has identified many points for consideration and items to which attention should be given in carrying out the studies. • We have attempted to simplify the text, merging the existing 3 questions in “decides” part into one comprehensive question and reducing the number of items under “considering” part and the associated NOTEs. • Recognizing the importance of this Question, the specific elements to be addressed for developing countries are retained as far as possible.
Summary • Preliminary texts for updating are provided in the Attachments of the contribution for both Questions.
