  2. “I’m Still Not Sure I Made The Right Choice...” In this task, you will be able to ask the story’s characters the questions Murakami plants in your mind. • First reread the story and annotate the text with any questions which occur to you. • Each member of the class will attempt to answer a question as the character it relates to. • Your teacher will ask the first pupil on the register the following question: Why are you still unsure it was a good idea to tell your wife about the bakery attack? They must answer as the husband using their own interpretation. • This pupil then directs one of their own questions to the next person on the register and so on.

  3. “Do We Really Have To Do This?” • “Of course we do.” • This is a fun way to construct notes on the story. • People all read stories differently – you can benefit from hearing another person’s interpretation. Write down anything useful or interesting they say. • Talk is one third of your overall Standard Grade award. • The best way to understand a character is to get inside of them.

  4. Evaluation: “Still Was It Really Necessary For Us To Have To Do This?” Provide a response to each of the following questions explaining your feelings about the hot-seating exercise. • What did you find useful about this task? • What did the task encourage you to do? • How might this task have been improved?
