  2. Definition of Abstinence • Abstinence is not having sex • A person who has decided to practice abstinence has decided not to have sex.

  3. Abstinence is.. • The only 100% effective way to prevent pregnancy • The only 100% effective way to prevent contracting sexually transmitted diseases or infections • Avoid all types of genital contact (oral sex, anal sex, sexual “touch”)

  4. Virginity • You don’t have to be a virgin to practice abstinence • Sometimes people who have had sex before decide to stop having sex anymore

  5. Don’t Give In! • Don’t feel pressured by friends, media, boyfriend/girlfriend • You can still have a committed & happy relationship without having sex
