  1. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

  2. Culture • My magazine appeals to many different social groups and cultures. Primarily for the black culture that own a large percentage of the rap and hip hop interest. But to ensure the other cultures are accounted for I made sure my model didn’t wear the clothes associated with the black culture i.e., (chains, rings or bandanna’s) As you can see the ’XXL’ magazine features an artist on the front with chains and rings, clothes associating with black gangsters which may lead to many people who usually wear these items to buy it however mine doesn’t, it alone attracts black culture with the artists the magazine says will be featuring in it on the front cover but also other cultures or people who don’t usually wear much bling are atoned for with a basic fashion code of a tee shirt and jeans with a baseball hat as they can identify with the dress code. Thus expands interest to those whom don’t wear heavy bling and can aspire to the fashion code of a tee shirt and jeans which may lead to them buying it and seeing what’s inside.

  3. Sexuality • My Magazine is aimed mainly towards heterosexual people as it contains attractive women with revealing clothing on in which heterosexuals would find more intriguing than homosexuals. I gathered that more heterosexual people are interested in my magazine than homosexuals through my audience research so in order to illustrate that my magazine is based mainly for heterosexuals I used a strong, heterosexual male to convey masculinity as opposed to a feminine looking man to allow heterosexual males to identify with the artist on the front and be attracted into reading it as it appeals to them. But Homosexuals will still be allowed to read it if they want to.
