National Basketball Retired Players Association • Founded in 1992 by NBA legends and visionaries Dave Bing, Archie Clark, Dave Cowens, Oscar Robertson and the late Dave DeBusschere, the National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) is a non-profit association comprised of former professional basketball players from the NBA, ABA and Harlem Globetrotters. The NBRPA is led by CEO, Arnie D. Fielkow and an eleven person Board of Directors including Board President, Bob Elliott, Thurl Bailey, Otis Birdsong, Harvey Catchings, James Donaldson, Steve Hayes, Gregory “Bo” Kimble, LaRue Martin, Marvin Roberts, Danny Schayes, and George Tinsley. • The NBRPA’s mission is to develop, implement and advocate an array of programs to benefit its members, sponsors and the community.   9. Schedule of Events The NBRPA will play host to 200+ NBA Retired Players during All-Star Weekend in Orlando, FL from February 23-26, 2012. With a myriad of activities, many of them new including the NBRPA’s Black History Day at All-Star Weekend, the NBA Retired Players will enjoy the host city and work with our partners and sponsors to build brand and local market awareness.   10. All-Star Weekend Celebrity Golf Challenge The NBRPA Orlando Chapter will tip off the 2012 All-Star Weekend on February 23th with the All-Star Weekend Celebrity Golf Challenge. Basketball legend Alonzo Mourning will serve as the benefit host. A who’s who list of NBA Retired Players and celebrities may include Elgin Baylor, George Gervin, Artis Gilmore, Moses Malone and many others. The Grand Cypress Golf Club which boasts 45 holes of Jack Nicklaus Signature-designed golf will play host to the event and will prove to be challenging and a beautiful setting for the event. The All-Star Golf Challenge, which benefits Alonzo Mourning Charities, The NBRPA Orlando Chapter and Legends Care™, offers a unique opportunity to interact and play golf with the legends of the game. All-Star Strike 300 Bowling Challenge The NBRPA will kick off the 2012 All-Star Weekend on February 23rd with the All-Star Strike 300 Bowling Challenge co-hosted by the NBA Legends, Women Standing Tall and invited NBA All-Stars and Rookies including Chris Paul, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker. NBA Legends will team up with current NBA Stars and other Celebrities in an evening of bowling, cocktails and cuisine for worthy charitable causes. The All-Star Strike 300 Bowling Challenge, benefitting Women Standing Tall and Legends Care™, offers a unique opportunity to interact and bowl with the current and past Legends of the game. All sponsored lanes will include at least one NBA player, NBA Legend or a Celebrity. We welcome you to share in memorable night as NBA greats strive to raise funds and awareness.   13. All-Star Legends Lounge The All-Star Lounge is the hub for all NBA Retired Players attending All-Star Weekend. Whether needing event information, picking up their tickets, or simply spending time talking with other NBA Retired Players and establishing relationships with our partners, the Lounge is where it all happens. The Lounge is also the primary showcase for our sponsors and the meeting point for celebrities in town for All-Star Weekend. A presence in the All-Star Lounge allows companies/brands to gain valuable brand exposure, create product placement opportunities, have direct access to the NBA Retired Players, capture media worthy photos and gifting opportunities for a who’s who list of NBA Retired Players and Celebrities.   14. Legends Basketball Clinic • The NBA and WNBA Retired Players will host a private basketball clinic for youth basketball players from the Orlando metro area at Center Court at NBA Jam Session. The two groups will run the clinic, instructing the athletes on everything from ball handling, cutting and screening, to post play, shooting and rebounding. In addition, the NBA Retired Players will share their wisdom of the game and their experiences playing professionally. • This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the selected youngsters to learn from basketball greats in a private setting. Through our partners and sponsors, participants will receive gifts, basketball gear, snacks and beverages.   15. NBRPA Celebrates Black History Month at All-Star Weekend The NBRPA Celebrates Black History Month on Friday, February 24th during All-Star Weekend. Through our partnership with Wells Fargo we have developed a day of education and discussion. The NBRPA will pay tribute to Black History Month by creating a day of education and reflection. The Legends will spend time in the community bringing awareness to the founding African American members of the NBA from Player to Coach to GM. A full slate of activities are scheduled beginning the Legends Care Music & Education Series to be conducted in a local Orlando area high school. The Legends Band will perform and share their experience as both musicians and former professional basketball players. The day will culminate with a round table event titled, Hardwood Pioneers Reflect.   16. Legends Welcome Reception & Hardwood Pioneers Reflect • The NBRPA will host an exclusive one-hour reception for NBRPA members, their spouses, select sponsors and VIP guests. This reception is an ideal opportunity for our sponsors and partners to connect with each group in an intimate setting. The evening will continue with an integrated fan reception and then conclude with a historic thought provoking round table discussion with some of the most influential African American pioneers of the game of basketball. The evening will be a unique and fitting tribute to Black History Month.  • Each NBRPA member attending All-Star Weekend will attend this event as it is the official launch event of the weekend. The event will include cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the company of Legends.   17. Legends Ladies Empowerment Event • The NBRPA and Wells Fargo Advisors will hold an exclusive event for the wives, significant others and family members of NBRPA members. This exclusive event is the inaugural Legends Ladies Empowerment Event. • The Legends Ladies Event offers an educational platform for the attendees. The event will include a special guest speaker and an educational discussion by Susan Inwood of Wells Fargo Advisors. This targeted event has been designed by Elaine Baylor, wife of NBA Legend Elgin Baylor.   18. Legends Brunch The NBRPA will hold their 13thannual Legends Brunch on All-Star Sunday. The private, invitation only event draws the game's legendary players. Past attendees have included a number of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players including: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Rick Barry, Elgin Baylor, Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson, Bill Russell, Bill Walton and James Worthy just to name a few. This is the most sought after event of the weekend. No tickets will be sold - it’s strictly invite only. The Legends Brunch provides a great opportunity to reminisce with the greatest figures in sports history.   19. Fire & Ice Benefit Party (All-Star Weekend Send Off Party) NBRPA Orlando Chapter will host the Official 2012 NBA All-Star SEND-OFF Party, Fire & Ice. The evening will benefit Rock Pink. Retired Players Rock Pink - A very pink night to remember featuring; celebrity guests, fire performance entertainment, live music, food, drinks and giveaways! Also available will be a wealth of material on breast cancer prevention. Pink attire is encouraged! • The evening offers sponsors a unique branding opportunity to promote their products or services as well as an association with the NBRPA’s Orlando Chapter.   20. Legends Band™ In 2010, the NBRPA formed the Legends Band comprised of former NBA and WNBA players. The band has performed at the 2010 & 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend (Legends Brunch, broadcast live on NBA TV, and the NBRPA Welcome Reception). The band also performed at the Legends World Sports Conference and the Basketball Hall of Fame Ring Ceremony in 2010 & 2011.
