Co-operating with International NGOs in their Awareness and Outreach Programmes Manovikas strategy of PPP contd… Over 100 residents, staff, family members, students and volunteers of Manovikas participated and indeed contributed to its success on Sunday 9th February, in New Delhi. About 100 volunteers organised by us enrolled about 1000 participants by setting up booths in various metro stations in the city.

Establishing contacts with Industry Many years ago – 26 to be exact, speaking at the seminar on Vocational Training at NIVH, I had spoken of moving away from A-B-C: Agarbatti, Brooms andCandlesand to take up D for Dusters to dust away the cobwebs of the mind. We talked to industry captains, experts in skills training, management professionals and to those who are specialists in Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences theory .
Howard Earl Gardner (born July 11, 1943) is the John H. and Elisabeth A. Hobbs Professor of Cognition and Education at the Harvard. The author of over twenty books translated into over thirty languages, he is best known for his theory of Multiple Intelligences, as outlined in his book Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences (1983).
Establishing contacts with Industry … contd We researched abilities and natural intelligences of our DD people and through interaction with them, realised that they enjoy meeting and networking with people (maybe with the exception of autistic people). So we focussed on skills training that would get them jobs and therefore – another D: DIGNITY

At the same time, we started our interactions with the corporate world and today those who get trained at our Manovikas get snapped up by industry. In fact, there is a demand for more employees: we are not able to cope!!!!

Suffice to place on record that Star TV, AajTak, Sahara Samay, Doordarshan and local channels in television; 98.4 and AIR in radio, Numerous internet news sites, Newspapers like Indian Express, The Hindu, Deccan Herald, DainikJagran, Pioneer, Hindustan Times, Malayalam Manorama and so on… covered us. Did not happen by itself. We assertively made a Media Plan with the help of professionals and implemented it.
Making information about ourselves available for general dissemination So we constantly bring out publications; recently we made a short documentary film ‘Joyful Living’ which was premiered in San Francisco and received excellent reviews. We are in the process of publishing a Newsletter which would be easily understandable by the select target audience. It would combine pictorials with the written word.
Our goal is straightforward:to make life meaningful for our Manovikas family.
