  6. The Teacher’s Role in autonomous learning • Encourage independence • Help students reflect • Teach and practice strategies and skills • Show the students opportunities to use the language • Complement self-study

  7. Conversation Strategies: Beginning & Continuing Conversations • Meeting someone for the first time • Talking to someone you know • Follow-up questions • Saying more than “yes” or “no”. Where are you from? How do you spend your free time? Did you do anything on the weekend? I like hiking … How do you spend your free time? What’s your major? How’s school? Where have you gone hiking?
