Directions • Read through the following slides. • Choose ONE activity to complete. • Work on this activity when there is “down time” if you have finished an in-class activity early. • Share this to your teacher’s mypanthersemail address when finished. • Earn a sweet treat when the final product is received.

Option #1: Greek Mythology’s influence in our language today • Create a Keynotepresentation that shows the meaning and back story for each of the following terms commonly used in our world today. • Each slide should contain: • Term • Definition • It’s background from Greek Mythology • An appropriate visual or picture. • Terms to include: -Achilles' Heel -The Face That Launched A Thousand Ships -Food of the Gods -Fury -Gordian Knots -Herculean Effort -Narcissism -Midas Touch -Odyssey -Pandora's Box

Option #2: Create your own origin myth . • Either write or use Zoodle to create your own origin myth. • Think of something in NATURE that fascinates you (mountains, rivers, roses, mosquitoes, lizards, etc). • Think of a god / goddess / powerful being that interests you. • Consider a problem or conflict this being may have. • Consider HOW the conflict could be solved in a way that brings about the creation your natural object. • You may want to re-read “Origin of the Seasons.” • List out the major events that will happen in your story. • Write or Zoodle your myth.

Option #3: Continue your reading of Greek Mythology • Go to the following website: • http://greece.mrdonn.org/myths.html • It should lead to a page that says: “Greek Mythology for Kids.” • Read 8 stories of your choice linked to this page. • Keep a list of the stories you read. • When you have finished 8 stories, RANK them in the order, best to worst. • The best story should be #1. • The worst story should be #8. • Provide a 2 – 3 sentence justification for each story’s ranking: • Example: This story deserves to be ranked 3rd. It was interesting to read about Zeus because he really showed his power by sending down the lightning bolts and moving the mountains. However, I thought the conflict was too stupid and little for a god to get so upset.
