Resources: • Pre-recorded songs (with teacher singing) • Pre-recorded songs (only accompaniment) • Worksheet • Bingo set • Poster and chart • Students’ workbook • Speaker for laptop • A few markers with different colour • Wise panda caps (or any other prizes for students) • Laptop with programs to: • Play the songs • Record students singing

SharingtheObjectiveandPurpose • Askstudentswhethertheyknowhowtosing‘Head,Shoulder, Knee and Toe’ (I already knew they learned the song) • Show hands • How many of them know how to sing it in Mandarin? • That is the obstacle that we have to overcome for today’s game
Input or Information/Checking for Understanding • Show students the poster of a person with body parts labeled in Pinyin • Draw another figure on the board and ask students to name the head, shoulder, knee, foot, eye, ear, mouth and nose and label the body parts as students read them out • Select wise panda
Modeling/DemonstrationPractice • Play the songs of me singing of all six levels HSKT with me • Listen again and students are to do the action, without singing • Students to sing 1st level with me • Students to sing with only accompanimentHSKNaccom • Move on to next level until students reach level six
Checking for Understanding/Closure • Record students singing, a few times Sample • Play back and let students decide which is the best singing • Why?
Second Part (1 lesson) • Drawing and pasting (year 3)/labelling (year 4) body parts of their alien, with visual aids • The alien must have the body parts that we learned yesterday • Introducenew body parts: hand, hair • Practice singing ‘Head, Shoulder, Knee and Toe’ • Arrange students to sing it as a whole year 3-4 songs during assembly
Third Part (1 lesson) • Bingo game onbodypartslearned • Guess what the character means • 大 小, demonstrate with action • Play ‘缪老师说’similarto‘SimonSays’
Forth Part (1 week) • Repeat‘缪老师说’game • Moveuponelevel,mustpointtothecorrectbodypartsinsteadofonlybigandsmall • HandoutIncyWincy Spider worksheet • Students to sing ‘Head, Shoulder, Knee and Toe’ during assembly
Fifty Part (1 week) • Learn a new song, ‘Where is my friend’ With me • Ask students to spot familiar words, phrases in the song: numbers, friends • Sing the song with me • Sing solo • Write the lyric (pinyin) on board • Underline friend, change it to any body parts • Students to challenge each other (group work, practice and then accept challenge from other group)
Sixth Part (1 lesson) • Revise big, small with ‘缪老师说’ • Revisebodyparts • Do IncyWincy Spider worksheet again, with different route • Sing ‘Where is my body parts?’ • Tell students next week we will use the same song to learn family members Where is my father and mother
