Salute! I have used this activity in courses for mathematics teacher s for years. I came across this game of Salute! many years ago and have found it a good way to engage students in practising their addition and multiplication facts. National Institute of Education Singapore In a three-player format, one says Salute! And the other two salute each other with a card on their foreheads. They cannot see their own card but can see their friend’s. The person who says Salute will give the sum or product. The aim of the game is to say what card is on one’s forehead. This lesson is an answer to question about students lacking in fluency with addition and multiplication facts.
singaporemathinaction This is a lesson to teach a new idea – the writing of division sentences for grouping situations. Lesson 2 Grade 2 The students had completed Grade 1 and were going to start Grade 2.
Keys Institute for Teaching & Learning, Manila Students wrote division sentences with the help of square tiles. Each time students were told: There are 21 tiles. Put them into groups of 3. How many groups do you get?. They then wrote out 21 ÷ 3 = 7. They were given six such tasks in the consolidation part of the lesson.
