Grains • Foods you can try are rice, cereals, wheat bread and pasta. • Eat about 5-10 servings • The grains and other ingredients in these foods give your body the carbohydrates it needs, as well as iron, fiber and other important elements. • The fiber in grains helps us digest foods! • Carbohydrates in grains helps give us the energy we need to learn, and play!
Meat and Beans • Foods you could try are fish, chicken, turkey. • Try to eat 3-5.5 ounces in a day • Meats and beans provide protein and iron, which is important for muscle growth. • Meats and beans help give you lasting energy to get you through your day! • Try choosing low fat or leaner meat!
Dairy • Foods you could try are Low fat milk, yogurt, and cheese. • Try to eat 2-3 cups a day • Dairy provides us with calcium and protein that is essential for healthy bones and muscles. • Nutrients in dairy products can help you stop bleeding if you get cut or bruised! • If you want a healthy bedtime snack try drinking a little chocolate milk before bed!
