Mission Statement • The mission of the Ohio Hop Growers Guild is to unify, grow, educate and protect the Ohio hops growing community, to increase sales of Ohio grown hops through promotions, marketing, public and industry awareness, and to monitor and assure a sustainable hops industry within the state of Ohio. • www.ohgg.com

  7. 2018 Accomplishments • OHGG renewed its memberships in the Ohio Craft Beer Associations (OCBA) and the Hop Growers of America (HGA) • Over 50 members attended the OHGG Annual meeting at Barley’s in Columbus in March   • OHGG Member Services committee coordinated the annual bulk-purchase of coir in April saving members over 20% on coir costs • 30 OHGG members attended the annual Summer meeting in Athens during Ohio Beer Week in July – excellent networking with other hops growers and an opportunity to learn about new hop trends from Sean White, Little Fish Brewery • OHGG Standards Committee implemented the OHGG Hop Quality Standards; onsite audits were performed in 2018 and the OHGG Quality Seal was awarded to 4 farms • 12 OHGG member farms participated in our annual state-wide Ohio Hop Yard Open House to promote Ohio hops – attended by over 275 visitors from around the state

More 2018 Accomplishments • OHGG exhibited and presented at the OCBA annual conference in Cleveland, and participated in all quarterly OCBA meetings to promote Ohio hops and OHGG members • OHGG Board held partnership meetings with Ohio Farm Bureau – resulting in a grant toward and sponsorship of the 2019 Ohio Hop Conference • OHGG Communication Committee coordinated the first Ohio Hop Showcase event and Fall Member Meetup in October at Rhinegeist Brewery in Cincinnati – an excellent chance to meet brewers and network with other hop growers -- attended by over 40 members • OHGG took over responsibility for planning the annual Ohio Hop Conference – a substantial effort that has taken months of planning and preparation by the OHGG Conference Committee • Several OHGG members planted test plots of hops bred in Ohio by Bob Bero.   The cones were harvested and being displayed at the OCBA Conference down the hall.

  10. 2019 Goals • Renewing our memberships in key industry trade groups – OCBA and HGA • 2019 Hop Conference and annual OHGG meeting in January; OHGG will exhibit and present at the 2019 OCBA annual conferencepossibly co-located at the same hotel • Launching a newly designed OHGG website in early 2019 – going forward, the OHGG Communications Committee will manage the OHGG website, giving us more control and providing members and the public with better visibility to OHGG activities & the hop yard map, • Hop Inventory Page for members’ available hops for brewers to easily search • Site audits of member farms whom apply for the OHGG Seal of Quality • Coir bulk purchase in March; efforts are underway to expand bulk purchasing for sprays

More 2019 Goals • OHGG Summer meeting in Athens at Ohio Beer Week in July • 2019 Annual OHGG Ohio Hop Yard open house • Discussions are underway with breweries in northern Ohio to host the 2019 Ohio Hop Showcase • Expand test plots of hops bred in Ohio • Planning effort for the 2020 Ohio Hops Conference • Feedback – what would you like to see OHGG focus on in 2019?

  13. 2019 Board Elections The nominations committee comprised of Mallory Zachrich, Mike McCoy, Steve Jensen and Jamie Arthur discussed candidates and composed the following ballot.
