Status Overview • Hull • Lift engine • Lift fan • Skirt • Thruster housing • Alternator testing
Hull • Location/space debate in McCarthy • Need to build a rolling table or cart to assemble hovercraft on • Cart built and hull assembled by Thursday 11/13/08
Lift Engine • Modified current engine mount for facilitated access • Investigate and finalize carburetor modification by Tuesday 11/18/08
Lift Fan Impeller model from last year’s hovercraft was determined to be sufficient Ordered on Thursday 10/30/08 Estimated arrival by Wednesday 11/19/08
Skirt • Assemble pattern by Tuesday 11/11/08 • Trip to Cambridge Canvas & Sail Loft postponed till Friday 11/14/08 due to schedule conflicts
Thruster Housing • All materials have been purchased • Galvanized steel (0.01” thick) purchased for housing shroud • Construction of housings to be completed by Tuesday 11/18/08
Alternator Testing Test performed on 11/5/08 (see figures) Current engine to alternator pulley ratio of 3.5 to 2.625
Alternator Testing • Attempted using a pulley ratio of 5 to 2.625 • The belt slipped and the engine stalled because it was loaded down by the alternator • Subsequent tests using different alternator ratios with the goal of producing higher output voltage performed by Thursday 11/13/08
