Hurricanes Hurricane season starts on the 1st of June and continues until the 30th of November. Open only when absolutely necessary. • Review evacuation plan and assemble disaster supply kit.

Shelters • EVACUATE EARLY: • Flooding can begin well before a hurricane nears land. • Try to keep a full or half tank of gas during the hurricane season. • Determine the best evacuation route that will work for you. • Never attempt to drive during a hurricane. • Avoid driving on coastal and low-lying roads. • Storm surge and hurricane-caused flooding are erratic and may occur with little or no warning. • LISTEN : • Radio or television broadcasts will have the latest National Weather Service bulletins about severe weather for your area. • It is important that you follow all instructions given to you by response officials in order to stay safe.
