Fatigue Fatigue is the feeling of weariness, tiredness, or lack of energy that does not go away when you rest.
Fatigue symptoms Physical Mental Emotional • Moodiness • Irritability • Difficulties Paying Attention • Lack of Focus • Low Motivation • Short-Term Memory Problems • Poor Concentration • Hallucinations • Chronic Tiredness • Headache / Dizziness • Sore / Aching Muscle • Slowed Reflexes • Impaired Hand-Eye Coord. • Loss of Appetite • Reduced Immune System • Blurred Vision • Appetite Loss
Medical causes Many diseases and disorders can cause fatigue e.g.: • Flu • Sleep Apnoea • Anaemia • Hypothyroidism • Chronic Pain • Tuberculosis • Hepatitis • Coeliac Disease • Cancer • Various Medications

Impacts of long work hours on safety • Long hours and / or overtime substantially increases risk of injuries • Overtime schedules was associated with a 61% higher injury hazard rate • Working at least 12 hours per day was associated with a 37% increased hazard rate • Working at least 60 hours per week was associated with a 23% increased hazard rate • Occupational Environ Med 2005
