  10. Problems • Having CLC2006 finished for 38 countries by end 2008 is a difficult task! • National deadline in many countries is end 2008. European dataset will not be completed by end 2008! ETC / EIONET workshop, EEA,12-13Nov 2007

CLC2006 in Slovenia (1) • Starting national tender: 22 Febr 2007 • Selection of the partner: 20 March • Start of the project: 4 April • Training by CLC Technical Team: 14 May • 1st verification: .. June • 2nd verification: .. August • Both databases completed: end October • Metadata and report completed: early November Longer than the planned 94 days • Methodology: standard • Reference data: topomaps (1:25.000), orthophotos ETC / EIONET workshop, EEA,12-13Nov 2007

CLC2006 in Slovenia (2) Results: • Corrections in CLC2000 • Altogether 220 change polygons (5 times more than in CLC2000) • Mostly related to forestry: 312-324, 311-324, 313-324, 324-311 • and constructions: 313-133, 311-133, 242-133 Good project organisation, no major problems (Project Manager) Reasons of the delay: • Waiting for satellite images, 2nd verification, delivery guidelines,, etc • Delayed implementation of corrections ETC / EIONET workshop, EEA,12-13Nov 2007

Conclusions and proposals • Implementation of CLC2006 is going on without technical difficulties • Progress is slower than expected because getting 38 national projects implemented in the same time frame is difficult • Lessons for GMES leaders • EEA has started discussions with ‘silent’ countries • In January 2008 different scenarios to complete the work by 2008 will be evaluated (to be decided by the Steering Committee) ETC / EIONET workshop, EEA,12-13Nov 2007
