  3. Idea When we get home hungry, we have no idea what to eat In Finland we waste food 20-30 kg/person Idea for APis to use ingredients already existing at home, that they don’t deteriorate and to be thrown away

  4. Idea Then create a meal or a snack for ones family or friend And save money when the food aren’t wasted This ap can be used for example teaching costs and about environment: why it is more economical to prepare a meal yourself

  5. Idea Easily and quickly made meal can also be everyday life gourmet! Encourages to be innovative, inspirational and to think outside the box -> what we can do!

  6. Action • Group of 9th grader girls (inc. 2 exchange students, one teacher) • Carried out as a homework following given instructions • Return within two weeks • Digital or mobile phone camera • Food/ingredients at home • Report with photographs

  7. Instructions • Take a picture from the content of your fridge in the morning • Think what you can prepare from the existing ingredients • This way can do the “what to eat” thinking during the day • Consider whether you need to shop something little on the way home

  8. Then.. • Prepare the meal and take pictures along the way

Comments all of the participants were so excited about this homework. “…a good idea considering the future…” “It was nice that one could plan and also photograph what was doing…” “it was good that one could work independently and to come up with their own stuff…” “…nice different task, and it was fun to implement…” and our exchange students thoughts: “It was nice task. When I was making the task I was thinking that we waste so much our food. And that said I cooked something whit help of my host mum and I learned to cook some typical Finnish things.”

  14. Conclusions Idea worked very well as homework Everybody did it whit great attitude The results were each different but all very good Everybody learned something evaluable and useful for their future and independent lives
